    Program Overview: This program offering, titled "Employment Law Update and Tips for Hiring and Firing" will provide an update on legislative, regulatory, and case law changes over the past year. Topics to be addressed include recent Supreme Court jurisprudence regarding workplace retaliation, rights of employees with medical marijuana prescriptions, family leave changes, and much, much more. You will learn about recent changes and what remains up in the air so you can ensure that your business is up to speed and compliant with workplace requirements and better prepare for future legislative and employment law changes.

    About the Speakers: Ms. Castro-Woolery is a partner at Eisenhower & Carlson, PLLC and chairs the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group. Her primary focus is employment law, including preventative counseling, training and advice, drafting employment handbooks, policies and agreements and handling wage and hour disputes and administrative hearings before the Employment Security Division and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Her focus over the years has been on commercial business transactions, including banking law. She obtained her juris doctorate degree from Seattle University School of Law in 1997 and is admitted to practice in all Washington courts and in the US District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington. Ms. Nguyen is an associate at Eisenhower & Carlson, PLLC. Her practice consists of employment law and commercial litigation. She advises employers of all types and sizes regarding various employment and personnel issues and claims, including non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, wage and overtime, workers’ compensation, unemployment, discrimination and harassment, and disability and accommodation. Ms. Nguyen obtained her juris doctorate degree from Seattle University School of Law in 2006 and is admitted to practice in all Washington courts, the US District Court for the Western District of Washington, and US Bankrupty Court for the Western District of Washington.

    As you know, there are many changes occurring in employment legislation and new case law rulings happening every day that impact the way we do business. This program offering is designed to bring you up to date and relay the potential impacts of recent and pending legislation, as well as case law rulings.     We hope that you and your guests will join us once again for another wonderful program offering on Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 7:30am - 9:15am. Our guest speakers have some great information to share with our members and guests and we appreciate their willingness to present to our chapter. We hope you share our enthusiasm and will be there to welcome them.

    Please be sure to register on or before the close of business on Monday, July 18th (4;00pm) to be eligible for the early bird discount ($5.00) and to assist us in ensuring that we have an adequate number of hand-outs as well as enough space and food for all our guests . As a reminder, if you need to cancel, please cancel your registration via email no later than 4:00 pm on Monday, July 18th so we can avoid excess charges for no-shows.  No-shows will be billed.

    Additionally, please note that our monthly breakfast forum for the month of August (as well as our annual membership appreciation celebration) will be held at Cheney Stadium on August 18th and NOT at C.I. Shenanigans. This breakfast meeting will be conducted at the same time (7:30-9:15am - free parking), followed by a board retreat, then the annual membership appreciate & silent auction that evening in a private suite where all our baseball fans can watch the game and enjoy the food & beverages(provided). Mike Nelson, our current past-president and Foundation Director, will provide more information at Thursday's meeting - so you don't want to miss it!  If you would like to donate a gift basket for the silent auction, you will recieve a free breakfast gift certificate which you may apply to any future semimar.  Please present this basket at the table when signing in on Thursday.
