    Dear SHRM Members and Guests:

Please join us for an exciting presentation with
Klint C. Kendrick, PhD, MBA, SPHR
    Boeing HR Mergers & Acquisitions
Program Overview:  This program offering is titled
"HR's Role in Mergers & Acquisitions"

The economy is rebounding and companies are revisiting their inorganic growth strategies with merger and acquisition (M&A) activity in 2016 expected to exceed prior records. Almost every type of M&A involves people, meaning that HR should be intimately involved in the process.  This session will provide an overview of the M&A process and specific areas of concern for HR practitioners.

In this session, Klint Kendrick will share general knowledge and best practices gained from several years of working in HR M&A. The slides, which can be made available to participants, will include links to non-proprietary resources that HR practitioners can use as a starting point for their own M&A and integration work.

By the end of the session:

    1. Participants will understand some of the reasons businesses engage in inorganic growth strategies.
    2. Participants will understand the overall M&A process, and HR's role in it.
    3. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the due diligence phase and the primary actions HR should take during due diligence.
    4. Participants will gain a basic understanding of post-M&A integration and the primary actions HR should take during the integration phase.

When they return to their business partners, participants will be armed with foundational knowledge of the M&A process. This will better enable them to work business leaders who are considering inorganic growth.  This session will also be useful for HR practitioners working for companies who are considering selling all or part of their business, and for practitioners who are dealing with integration of disparate cultures within the same organization.
