    Building Inclusive Workplaces:

    LGBTQ+ 101 Gender, Pronouns & What?

    with

    River Teslar (she/her)

    Business Training Specialist, GSBA

    Summary:

This workshop will focus on the fundamentals of gender/gender expression, sexuality, pronoun use and how their perception can change your behavior. First grounding in ourselves, then understanding others, and finally putting it into practice. Come learn how to flex your ally muscle and learn more about pronouns and why they matter. We'll cover how you can expand your inclusive practices, both as an individual, in the community, and within your sphere of influence as an employer.

We’ll discuss allyship and how to participate in it effectively. Covering the importance of navigating the world with an empathetic lens. No matter where you are in your understanding of the complexity of gender and how it impacts our world, this will be a welcoming space to ask questions and grow together.

      Learning Objectives:

      Participants will be able to:

      • Understand the difference between gender, sexuality, gender expression, and gender identity.
      • Learn how to use, ask for, and explain pronouns as well as how to react after accidentally misgendering someone.
      • Leave with more information on how you as an employee can help create a more inclusive culture both inside and outside the workplace.

Doors open at 7:30 for breakfast and networking conversations!

This program is approved for 1.0 PDCs toward SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® recertification and 1.0 General Credit through HRCI.
