As the Board of Directors for the South Puget Sound Chapter of SHRM, we are pleased to serve our members and oversee the business operations of our chapter. Each Board Member is a Volunteer Leader for SHRM National, which provides many benefits and opportunities.
The Board is comprised of two main groups: Chapter Officers and Core Leadership Area Directors. We meet every month to review financials, vote on initiatives, and tackle chapter goals.
Benefits of Serving on the Board
As a Board Member, you will have the opportunity to use your leadership skills, grow and strengthen your professional network, and further your career. Others benefits include:
- Earn SHRM Credit for serving as a Volunteer Leader with SHRM National
- Access to special, Volunteer Leader only resources with SHRM National, equipping you to be up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in our industry
- Complimentary attendance to all SPS SHRM Chapter Events
Requirements to Serve on the Board
- Be a current South Puget Sound SHRM Chapter member (or become one!)
- Be a Human Resources Professional or involved with the Human Resources field
- Be able to attend monthly board meetings (typically the 2nd Thursday of the month at 2pm-3pm for virtual meetings (8 per year) and 4:30pm-6pm when in-person (4 per year), 1-2 hours per month)
- Be able to attend at minimum 75% of Chapter events (typically 2-3 hours per month)
- Commit an average of 2.5 hours per week to achieve goals, complete initiatives, and help complete tasks specific to your role
- Be able to serve on the Board for a minimum 2-year term (you will learn a lot in year 1, and really begin to thrive in year 2!)

2. Applications for 2025 Board Openings are available now.
3. After submitting an application, the Chapter President will contact you regarding next steps. If you are selected to move forward, we will schedule an interest meeting to learn more.
4. Once approved by the Chapter President to serve on the Board of Directors, a vote will occur to confirm your spot on the Board.
